Jeff Rodas

We are excited to introduce our new hire, Jeff! Please read his bio to learn more about who he is and about his positions in the church.

Jeff Rodas

My name is Jeffrey Rodas from Hacienda Heights and I am the Worship Leader of Emmaus Church.

How did you hear about Emmaus?

I heard about Emmaus Church through Tony Gomez, a graduate from LABI College, the college I am currently attending. Tony reached out to our campus pastor in search for a worship leader.  She spoke with me about the position and connected me with Pastor Lamont.

Your role at Emmaus

My role as Worship Leader is to Lead and develop a worship ministry capable of providing an inspiring and engaging worship experience every service. A worship experience that encourages the church to enter into corporate and personal worship, glorify God, and usher people into his presence.

How has God prepared you for this position?

Music is in my blood. All the way from my grandparents to my parent’s music has been passed down to each generation. I’ve been serving in music ministry since I was the age of 14. I started to play and sing in the worship team at the church my grandfather pastored. God called me and my three brothers into music ministry, formed a worship group, and ministered in worship for many years at camps in California, Arizona, Youth conventions, and General Assembly conventions within the Church of God. When my father was called to ministry I was placed as the worship leader at his church and I served there in the music ministry. I am currently at LABI College finishing my Associates in Bible and Ministry. I have served there every semester on the worship teams leading, playing, learning and growing to better myself as a musician, worshipper, and to better teach others and guide them as they grow.

What are you most looking forward to during your time at church?

What I am most looking forward to is the entire experience. I have never been part of a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-generational church. I’ve always been used to predominantly all Hispanic people churches. Although I have been to many churches to minster I have never been part of a church that is so diverse. I look forward to connecting with the Emmaus Family in Santa Ana, be a part of the outreach in this community, and bring a new lively worship experience that can connect each one of us together and to the heavenly Father.

Anything else you'd like to share?

On my free time, I like to spend time with friends and family. I also love food; I love to try new and exciting places, and will try almost anything. My hobbies would be writing music, playing sports with friends, reading comic books (I’m a huge Batman fan) and watching movies. I really Love COFFEE!!!

Gerardo Magana

Here is a special message from our newest edition to the Emmaus Staff Team, Pastor Gerardo Magana:

Hey everyone, my name is Gerardo Magana and I serve as the Associate Pastor. My wife, Tracey and daughters, Jasmine and Isabella are so excited to join me in calling Emmaus Church our home.

We are honored to be a part of a faith community that truly seeks to be multiethnic and multigenerational, in a time where unity is what's needed most.

My years of being a youth pastor and most recently an outreach pastor, has really shaped my heart towards building bridges and doing the work of reconciliation.

I'm looking forward to being a part of all that God is going to do through our Church as we seek to be the hands of feet of Jesus in Santa Ana and beyond.

Blessings,

G

Hope Staller

We are excited to introduce our new hire, Hope! Please read her bio to learn more about who she is and about her positions in the church.

Hope Staller

My name is Hope and I am currently finishing my Bachelor's in Liberal Studies at Vanguard University. I currently live in Huntington Beach with my family and two dogs. After finishing my degree at Vanguard I plan to get my teaching credential and then begin teaching in the Orange County Area.

How did you hear about Emmaus?

I heard about Emmaus through Tammy Kanei, we played in the Vanguard University Orchestra together. She invited me to come experience a Sunday. After this, I was in conversation with Lamont and Tammy who discussed with me how they wanted to grow our children's ministry.

More details about your role with the church.

As the Children's Ministry Coordinator it will be my job to serve the vision of Emmaus Church by assisting with the leading, planning, organization, and coordination of Emmaus Kids Sunday services and events. I will also be in constant communication with parents as well as our amazing team of volunteers to help everyone stay on the same page and make sure Sunday services and events run smoothly.

How has God prepared you for this position?

I have always had a passion for Children's Ministry and volunteering in this area no matter what church I found myself at. As a Liberal Studies major with the intention of teaching after college I have had the opportunity to take numerous education and developmental psychology classes in addition to interning with various teachers and grade levels. At Vanguard University, I am also the University Orchestra President where I have had to do a lot of administrative work as well as plan and coordinate various events.

What are you most looking forward to during your time at church?

I am most looking forward to connecting with the children at Emmaus. Everyone that I have met so far at Emmaus has such a unique personality and passion for serving God, both of which are directly reflected through the children within the church. I cannot wait to form closer relationships with the children, parents, and volunteers here at Emmaus.

Anything else you'd like to share? (hobbies, what you like to do on your free time, favorite food etc)

In my free time I love playing bass clarinet, trying out new restaurants, and going to the beach. I have a serious weakness for Japanese food and I will always stop to pet the puppies! Feel free to reach out to me I can't wait to get to know the people of Emmaus even better.

Cesar Ramirez

We want to take the time to honor and celebrate one of our fellow Emmaus members and worship leader, Cesar Ramirez!

Cesar joins other worship leaders to release Restored, delivering music of hope and healing.

He has joined other worship leaders across the country in recording Restored, just released by Sonbranch Music on iTunes, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Google Play and Spotify. Cesar brings the theme of Restored all together in the uplifting Only One Life, the famous poem by missionary C.T. Studd set to music. Only One Life is a bold and encouraging proclamation to live life for Christ no matter what. Cesar’s confident and beautiful singing are a perfect fit for these enduring words

Restored was produced by acclaimed Christian producer John Andrew Schreiner. Composer and executive producer Eric Sohlgren, worship leader at St. James Anglican Church, Newport Mesa, wrote the songs of Restored as prayers during many years of personal struggle and loss.

Cesar, Eric and John all have a heart for reaching people for Christ through musically and spiritually engaging music, and they hope Restored will bring the hope, healing and comfort of Christ to many, many people. Restored has already touched those who are suffering from cancer, the loss of a loved one or other trial, with listeners describing the music as beautiful, peaceful, comforting, moving, meaningful, prayerful and significant.

Tammy Kanei

Tammy Kanei

My name is Tammy Kanei from Mililani, Hawaii and I am the Ministry Coordinator of Emmaus Church.

How did you hear about Emmaus?

I first heard about Emmaus through Christine Correa, one of the worship leaders at Emmaus Church. She shared with me her love for the church and suggested that I look into a couple job positions that were opening up. It was through this that I ended up meeting with Pastor Lamont, had the chance to experience Emmaus on a Sunday morning, and through further conversations this lead me to taking up the Ministry Coordinator position.

What is your role within the church?

My role as the Ministry Coordinator is to motivate and build ministry leaders in order to fulfill God's purpose in their lives and draw others to a fully devoted love relationship with Jesus Christ. To serve Emmaus by playing an instrumental role alongside the Campus Pastor in the administration and function of the building, growth, development and maintenance of the campus. And to assist in facilitating events and conferences.

How has God prepared you for this position?

I recently graduated from Vanguard University with a Bachelor in Religion (Emphasis in Pastoral Leadership) and a Minor in Music. At Vanguard I was an R.A. and Student Chaplain. My past church ministry experience includes worship, children and youth ministry, hospitality, and this past summer I served as a Youth Pastor intern at my home church, First Assembly of God Honolulu.

What are you most looking forward to during your time at church?

What I’m most looking forward to is having the chance to meet and get to know the people of Emmaus Church. I’m slowly learning faces and names, but I’m excited to build relationships and work along side everyone to help Emmaus grow in seeking and accomplishing its vision of being the hands and feet of Santa Ana and beyond. I love this because it tells me that this is a church that sees the value of community and being a light to those around them. This is only the beginning of my journey at Emmaus and it’s already been great! I look forward to seeing what God has in store for this new season!

Anything else you'd like to share?
